Composer Elena Kats-Chernin AO performs new works alongside projections of artwork by the Archibald-winning Wendy Sharpe in Gulgong during the Henry Lawson Heritage Festival. 60 minutes of sensory bliss featuring Gulgong’s famous Steinway!

Elena Kats-Chernin has reached millions worldwide with her prolific catalogue of works for the concert hall, theatre, ballet, opera and chamber ensemble. Her eclectic style often combines elements of cabaret, tango and ragtime underpinned by compelling rhythms. Her music featured in the opening ceremonies of 2000 Sydney Olympics Games, 2003 Rugby World Cup and Meryl Tankard’s ballet - Wild Swans.

Wendy Sharpe is one of Australia’s most acclaimed and awarded artists. She has been awarded an extensive list of prizes, residencies and scholarships. These include winning: the Archibald prize, the Sulman Prize, the Portia Geach Memorial Award, the Gold Award and a commission from the Australian War Memorial Award as an Australian Official War Artist, the first woman since WW11. Sharpe has held over 70 solo exhibitions around Australia and internationally.
